I think you can already guess, just by looking at the author, that I loved this book.
What isn’t there to like? An adorable gentleman, who is hot, funny, kind and just what any doctor would order, plus a strong independent woman who you just want to be like – perfect.
Max and Emilia had known each other from childhood and were great friends, best friends in fact. However, as time passed they became distant because Emilia had to move away and didn’t keep in touch. After an accident, Max needed physical therapy and Pippa, his sister, had to intervene and do a little match making as Emilia was just the right person for the job
I found this story of Layla’s to be a little bit more serious than the others. Don’t get me wrong – I loved it. In fact, I think it enhanced it slightly. Emilia’s grandmother is sick and that is very hard for her, as it would be on anyone. Her character really spoke to me with how she worked to help pay for all the medical bills, and to keep herself going on a day to day basis as well as keep the house. She was truly inspirational with her work ethic and her love for her family.
Max was just like all the other Bennetts I have had the chance to read about. As I mentioned earlier, just what a doctor would order! He is the type of guy who would want to make sure you were safe and didn’t have to worry about anything. If he could take the pressure/issue away he would, even when it cost millions for his family’s company – not that her family wouldn’t have done the same.
I can’t forget the hot scenes that Layla creates. They aren’t as steamy as, let’s say, Gena Showalter’s Lords of the Underworld series, (which I seriously need to catch up on!), but they still have you looking for a glass of cold water.
I thought Layla dealt well with the issues that Emilia and Max faced with Emilia’s grandmother. She gave all the signs to the reader to feel for Emilia and think about how it would be to be in that situation.
Honestly, if you haven’t started reading this series, I truly would pick up the first book on Kindle and start. As a complete series, so far it is worth the time spent reading it.
If you love a good ‘ready to read’ romance with a bit of laughter, swooning and constant smiles, pick this series up and start reading them from the beginning. They are quick reads even though they tend to have over 300 pages per book.
I can’t put them down… book 5 will be on its way soon in a review.
Let me know if you have read this series so far!
